Glock 26 For Ccw - Check out two popular Glock concealed carry variants - the G26 and G43.
If you've decided to get a Baby Glock, you're not alone. The company's subcompact models are extremely popular among concealed carriers. However, the ongoing heated debate between the Glock 26 vs. Glock 43. Both models have a lot to offer, especially in the stealth and reliability departments.

While we can't possibly settle that argument here, we'll go over the specifics so you can make an informed decision about which small polymer 9mm pistol is best for you.
Glock 27: A Solid Choice For Concealed Carry
Even on paper, the differences between the two subcompact handguns are minimal. The biggest difference is the way stacks are stacked within stacks.
The G43 has a single magazine. Single-layer magazines have cartridges arranged in a vertical column.
The G26 has a two-layer magazine. The twin magazines have rounds in a sort of back and forth zigzag pattern. The charges are arranged in two columns. The top charge of each column is alternately fed into the weapon chamber. The design makes the magazine (and the gun that holds it) wider than a magazine. However, the double magazine insert holds more rounds in a shorter area and holds about 1 ½ times as many rounds in the same vertical space.
The height and length of the G26 and G43 are very similar. The G26 is slightly taller, wider and heavier, but not by much. The most noticeable difference in dimensions is the width. While a quarter of an inch may not seem like much, it can make a big difference in effective concealment. The slimmer profile allows the G43 to easily slip under anything in your closet, especially a good IWB holster.

While both pistols are easy to carry, the G43's slimmer dimensions make it more suitable for pocket carry. However, due to the Glock's light trigger pull and lack of external safety, pocketing without a proper holster is just silly.
The G43 grip is 0.24 inches narrower. With a height of 0.08 inches, it also provides a little room to hold. If that doesn't sound like much, you're right.
Since the average human pinky is about 0.3 inches wide, an extra 0.08 inches of grip length would still cause most people's pinky to disappear under the grip. Fortunately, magazine extenders are available for both models, but every extra inch you add to these guns takes away from their concealability, which is really their best feature.
Which grip is better? This is mostly a matter of opinion. There are many articles floating around the internet that claim that the narrow frame of a magazine makes it easier to operate with small hands. Most of the articles are written by dudes with big feet. The truth is, shooters with small hands benefit from having something substantial to hold. Neither the G43 nor the G26 has a large grip for someone with small hands to hold. In fact, the slimmer dimensions of the G43 may make it difficult for some shooters (regardless of hand size) to maintain a firm and confident grip. A stack tends to slip in the hands of some shooters during shooting, especially if the hands are sweaty.

Small guns are notoriously difficult to control, whether you have clumsy hands or graceful palms and fingers. Putting a small grip on an already difficult weapon only increases the difficulty.
But here's the deal: Every shooter is different. The best way to find out if a grip is right for you is to do a full test ride. Take it for a test drive at the range, not the showroom floor. Just because the gun in the shop "feels good in your hands" doesn't mean you'll be able to maintain a proper grip for many shots. Recoil can be a huge game changer in ownership.
One of the advantages of the G26 is that it accepts Glock 19 and Glock 17 magazines. This can be a useful advantage at range. It also means you can carry the G26 as a backup. If your primary weapon is a G17 or G19, you can share spare magazines with the backup pistol.
Because the G26 holds four more rounds than the G43, it is also heavier. With four rounds, the G26 tips the scales at just over 26 ounces. That's still 6 ounces more than a fully loaded G43.

The extra six ounces helps absorb some of the slick recoil micro pistols are known for. Because of the shorter barrel length, subcompact handguns may require more effort to maintain control, especially for inexperienced shooters. And while both Glocks are easy to hold, the added weight (and increased grip width) gives the G26 a slight advantage in recoil control.
Both are easyto conceal for the average shooter, although if you are looking for a deep concealment backup pistol, the slimmer profile of the G43 gives it a slight advantage.
Glock often settles the debate of which of their models is the best by offering a new model. This debate is no different, and Glock's attempt to settle it is the G43X.
The G43X is a Glock 43 with the capacity of a Glock 26, with a slightly wider frame (1.2 inches) and slightly more grip clearance, making it similar in length to the Glock 19, but with thinner, simpler magazine configuration. This provides a thinner profile than the G26 with the same magazine capacity (10 plus 1).

That means it's just as stealthy as the G43, but offers a few extra rounds that could literally save your life in a dangerous situation.
The "best" weapon is the one you can shoot the best. However, balancing concealment and shooting is a tightrope. In the end, you have to decide for yourself which pistol best suits your needs, and the best way to do that is to shoot.
It's also important that small shooters don't fall into the trap of choosing a small pistol just because they're small. While Baby Glocks are certainly cute, they aren't as easy to shoot as their big brothers, the Glock 19 and Glock 17. And while micro pistols are easy to conceal on almost anyone, you need a gun that lets you to quickly and effectively shoot your target, when you need it. A larger gun will help you do this better than a smaller one in almost every situation.
